Here’s Why You Should Be Using Twitter Lists

What are Twitter Lists?

A Twitter list is exactly what it sounds like – a list of Twitter accounts. You can either create a new list or subscribe to an existing one. Should you decide to create one of your own, you can make it public or private. Keep reading to find out why this is important!

How to Find Twitter Lists?

The easiest way to find Twitter Lists that you might be interested is to simply navigate to the profile of someone you follow and view their Lists. When browsing Twitter on a PC, this is found in the top bar, and on mobile, just tap the 3 dots in the top right corner of your screen. Check out which Lists they are Subscribed to and ones that they are a Member of. Click on a List to see Tweets, Members, and Subscribers. Once you’ve found a list that you are interested in, just hit Subscribe!

How Can My Business Benefit From Using Twitter Lists?

Here are some of the many great ways to use Lists! Have another great idea in mind? Share it in the comments below!

Filtering Out The Noise

Lists can be a great way for businesses or people who follow hundreds or thousands of people to focus on the small percentage of users who are Tweeting valuable content. For example, if you want to focus on what is going on with your business partners, you could create a list entitled “Business Partners” and add them to this list. Now when you view this list, you will only see Tweets by those accounts.

Keep Up With Your Employees

Let your team know you care by keeping up with them on social media. If someone who works for your company Tweets about an accomplishment, give them a shoutout! This can also be a great way to see how your employees are representing your brand, and is especially useful for blogs who encourage authors to share stories on their personal accounts.

The same can apply to influencers, brand ambassadors, and to active and alumni members of non-profit organizations.

Know Your Competitors

Want to know what’s going on in your market or industry? Make a list of other businesses that you compete with. This is a great way to stay on top of industry trends so that you can keep developing your competitive advantage. Don’t want competitors to know you’re watching them? No problem! Set your list to “Private” before you add them and they won’t be notified.

Recommended Accounts

If you like providing your customers, fans, followers, etc. with great resources, this is a great idea! For example, if you are in the tech industry, you might want to recommend accounts such as Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Google, etc. If you are marketing affiliate links, you might want to include links to the accounts for the businesses you are promoting.
